Most of the IT management strategy concepts I learned in the classrooms could be applied directly to my management work. This program helped my career development and also helped my company transform into a more advanced and successful company. My studies at HKUST helped me reach an important milestone in my life – to be the first-ever non-Japanese MD of Konica Minolta Hong Kong!

MScISM is a very good program with a well-balanced combination of technical concepts and IS management theories that not only equipped me with the latest technology knowledge but also enhanced my strategic skills in IS management. The most inspiring part was the teaching quality of the faculty. They are very passionate in sharing their expertise and regularly use interactive case studies in classes. The sharing from industrial practitioners increased the practicality of the course and helped us apply our knowledge in the real business world.

The wide range of specialized areas, such as project management, e-commerce and digital marketing, covered in the program stimulated my innovative thinking and aspirations. Thanks to the program, my passion to acquire new expertise in technology areas has been fulfilled. I am fully empowered to stay ahead in my domain as a business technology professional.

I joined HKUST with the expectation of participating in a reputable and well-structured Master’s degree. However, after a few weeks into the program, I started to realize the MScISM program offers much more than that. I witnessed firsthand how the excellent staff and professors of international caliber were consistently eager to go the extra mile for students.

Through this program, I was able to learn different aspects of Information Systems. With the diverse backgrounds of the students, learning comes not just from lectures, but also from each other during class discussions.

Choosing HKUST’s MScISM program was an easy decision for me, as I was attracted by the program curriculum’s wide spectrum of thematic courses. Aside from the core and required courses which consolidated my knowledge in related areas, the offering of a FinTech concentration and IT consultation electives further equipped me with necessary skills to land my current position in a tech company.

MScISM professors are experienced and knowledgeable. In terms of lectures, they inspired me to think critically and form my own opinions. This program also offered me all kinds of opportunities to get exposed to the industry and industry elite, notably through company visits and career talks.

The program has given me a comprehensive picture of how we can utilize and manage the most updated technology in our businesses. We are encouraged to think critically, be interactive, and stay curious, all of which became the most valuable skills for developing my career.

I’m very impressive by how the program put a lot of effort into increasing students’ industrial exposure and connections to the real business world. The corporate project I pursued with PingAn OneConnect Bank allowed me to make the most out of the knowledge and skills I acquired from my courses. I also gained valuable experience through the mentorship provided by the company and my professors.

ISM program provides students with cutting-edge knowledge and the most useful information that students can apply directly to the work. There is a wide range of courses you can choose from: Big Data Analytics, Blockchain, AI, Project Management, Fintech, etc. Any of them can be the trigger to start your promising career. As for me, I decided to be a cybersecurity risk advisory after attending one of the recruitment talks held by the MScISM program. Thus, I would encourage you to join these valuable enrichment talks where you can learn the latest news in the industries. Moreover, you may want one of the speakers to be your future boss. Well-structured courses have armed me with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. I truly appreciate what this program has brought to me.

I feel so proud of myself as a graduate of MScISM. This program helped me to consolidate my existing knowledge and build a bridge for me to get access to brand new technology domains so that I can realize a transition from non-Tech to Tech-savvy.
ISM courses were attractive and practical, which grew my interest in Fintech, strengthened my skillset, and more importantly, built up the mindset. I got equipped with skills of Python, database management, cybersecurity, project management and so on, which I find are quite useful in real business scenarios. Actually, practical uses were emphasized throughout the program. We collaborated with teammates to go through different types of course projects, and to apply what we have learned in case studies. And with a concentration of Financial Technology, I could connect my previous financial work experience with cutting edge technologies. Besides, thanks to professors who encouraged us to speak and share ideas in class, I felt inspired and became more confident about myself.
